Let's be straight with each other. I've always liked graphic apparel with epic designs that stand for my values and what I'm chasing as an athlete, and there's no shortage of it out there. But something kept bothering me about most brands built for the hardcore athlete lifestyle: none of it was authentic anymore.
Here's the context. I've trained hard for years, and effort is what makes me feel alive. I've seen what a load you can't yet carry does to a body, and I've seen what the easy version of the same thing does — nothing. The body only changes under real resistance, and as far as I know there's no shortcut that gets you the same result. That's the law holding everything else up: without trial, progress stalls.
Where am I going with this? The law doesn't stop at the bar. I'm also a tattoo artist, and when you spend your days tattooing people — something that stays on them for life — you learn to rework a line until it earns its place. It's the same mechanism exactly. The road to the result is what gives the masterpiece, and the medal, all of its value.
That's why every OverPower piece starts as a hand drawing. It isn't faster, and that isn't the point either. A brand that sells the value of effort with a product made without any contradicts itself, and you can see it on the garment.
What you wear should represent you all the way down, not just on the surface. That's why this brand exists.
